I am SO tired I can barely keep my eyes open right now. I forget that Valentine's Day is a holiday to little kids and they get almost as excited as they do on Christmas!
First of all, our superintendent walked in to my classroom yesterday afternoon and the first thing he said when he opened the door was, "Don't be nervous". Uhhh...and now the side of my face is as red as a tomato. Thank goodness we were getting ready to go to PE so he was only in there for 10 minutes.
Then today I had my unannounced observation. We read the book "The Day it Rained Hearts" and then the kids did a writing of what they would do with the hearts if it rained hearts on them. Then for math today, I used some die cuts of hearts and wrote subtraction problems on the hearts. Then the kids made it "rain" hearts. When they got a heart, they had to go back to their seats and solve the problem with their base ten blocks. Then we did candy heart data tally/bar graph data collection.
All of it was worth it to get this little Valentine letter from one of my quietest boys and it made my day.
Happy Valentine's Day!
